The Dacia Spring is the cheapest new electric car you can buy right now. The small electric Dacia has an entry-level price of just under 18 mille and thus remains at some distance from the then ‘least expensive’ EV in the Netherlands. We list the 10 cheapest electric cars in the Netherlands for you.

Dacia has a smart model in their hands with the Spring. Of all the electric cars that you can buy at the time of writing, the Dacia Spring has the lowest starting price. The compact electric Romanian changes hands from €17,890 and is therefore also the only new electric car with a starting price of under 20 mille. For just under 18 grand, Dacia hands you the keys to the Spring in Comfort trim. It is also available as a €18,890 Comfort Plus, with or without the Orange Pack. Regardless of the version chosen, you get an electric hatchback with a 44 hp electric motor and a 27.4 kWh battery pack with which you can wring up to 230 WLTP kilometers of range.

Second place is for the Renault Twingo E-Tech Electric for which Renault is asking €21,270. The Twingo is only available with an electric powertrain that consists of an 82 hp and 160 Nm strong electric motor. The battery pack of the electric Twingo is 22 kWh and provides the car with a WLTP range of 190 kilometers.

With a starting price of €23,400, the Seat Mii Electric is in third and therefore last place on the podium. The electric Mii has an 83 hp and 212 Nm strong electric motor that gets its energy from a 36.8 kWh battery. The WLTP range is 260 kilometers.

Make and model From price
1 Dacia Spring €17,890
2 Renault Twingo E-Tech Electric €21,270
3 Seat Mii Electric €23,400
4 Smart Fortwo/Forfour EQ €23,995 (Convertible: €26,995)
5 Fiat 500e 24 kWh €24,900 (42 kWh: €28,600)
6 Volkswagen e-Up €26,990 (stock)
7 Opel Corsa-e €28,799
8 Peugeot e-208 €29,650
9 JAC iEV7s €30,650
10 MG ZS EV €31,985

The Smart EQ Fortwo and the EQ Forfour both have a starting price of €23,995 and share the fourth place. Like the electric Twingo, they have an 82 hp electric motor, although the battery pack with 16.7 kWh is a bit smaller. They can travel about 120 to 135 kilometers on a full charge. The Fiat 500e has a 24 kWh battery in the cheapest form and costs – as Berlina in basic trim Action €24,900. This puts this variant in fifth position, although according to Fiat Netherlands, almost every 500th buyer opts for the version with a 42 kWh battery. As a Berlina, it has a starting price of €28,600.

Volkswagen’s only stock e-Up is on the list from €26,990, followed by electric Stellantis twins: the Opel Corsa-e and the Peugeot e-208, which finish in seventh and eighth respectively. Both the Corsa-e and the e-208 contain a 136 hp electric motor and a 50 kWh battery, good for about 340 kilometers of range.

The top 10 is closed by two Chinese high-legged creatures, namely the iEV7s from JAC and the MG ZS EV. The JAC has a 114 hp electric motor and a 39 kWh battery that is large enough for a range of 250 kilometers. The MG ZS EV, it concerns the facelifted version that will be available next year, kicks it in the new Standard Range flavor thanks to a 50.3 kWh battery to a range of 320 kilometers. It is also available as a Long Range with a 70 kWh battery. That version has a range of 440 kilometers, but costs at least €35,985 and is therefore outside the top 10. The Renault Zoe R135 Business Edition with its starting price of €32,790 misses a position in this top 10.
