Skoda Felicia (2001) – Into the Wild

Sometimes a tan on a car is enough to attract attention. That certainly applies to this Skoda Felicia, which, moreover, is now also not often seen in more usual colors.

You are undoubtedly familiar with it: cars that have discolored over the years to such an extent that you can only discern what color it should be on the inside here and there. Whether that is also the case with this Skoda Felicia, we will come back to that in a moment. The specimen shown here in the photos was spotted by colleague Lars Krijgsman. He thought about it not only because of the ‘faded red’, but also because a Felicia really isn’t very common these days. Check it out when you see another one.

It’s not too bad in itself: the Felicia was, after all, a relatively cheap and no-nonsense means of transport, with technology on board the old Skoda. After all, the Felicia dates from the time before the Volkswagen Group took over, because it was a further development of the Favorit. Incidentally, it made some difference for the overall picture whether you had a Felicia from before the facelift or – as is the case with this one – from after the facelift. The latter came with the modern grille on the nose and that gave the Felicia a clearly more modern appearance than before.

That more frivolity was possible at Skoda under the leadership of Volkswagen is also apparent from the color palette that you found in the folder. It also contained ‘Raspberry Red’, the color of this Felicia. Believe it or not, that was really pretty much the color this Felicia still has today. No doubt it has become a bit lighter over the years, but in the base it was already a bit pink. In fact, this Felicia still looks pretty neat, although the color is a bit unfortunate when you know that many older cars are also like this because they are discolored. Just under five years ago, it certainly didn’t deter a buyer, because that’s how long it’s been with its current owner.
