Opera is testing a VPN function in the pre-release of its web browser for Android. Here’s how to take advantage of it today.
A little less than a year after removing its dedicated VPN application, Opera is putting the cover back by integrating a new VPN module, this time integrated directly into its mobile web browser. Still under testing, the feature is currently only available on the beta version of Opera for Android users.
Please note, however, that this new layer of protection built into Opera can only be used by default in private browsing. In addition, the application allows search engines to override the use of VPN to access your location data.
1. Download Opera Beta for Android
The functionality is currently still in the testing phase, you will have to download the beta version of the browser on Android to hope to be able to take advantage of it.

2. Open private browsing
By default, Opera Beta’s VPN is only functional in private browsing. Open Opera Beta and press the button to explore open tabs. Press Private to open private browsing, open a new tab by pressing +, and activate the VPN function.
You can start browsing the web. A VPN icon should automatically be displayed in the browser’s address bar.
3. Customize the settings
The settings of the VPN built into Opera can be customized. To access it, open the main menu of Opera by pressing the red O, and enter Settings. Without deactivating the function, tap on the VPN menu to display additional options.
If you want to enjoy the VPN outside of private browsing, uncheck Use VPN for private tabs only.
Then tap Virtual location, and select the continent of the server you want to connect to.
Finally, to prevent search engines from accessing your location, turn off the Search VPN Bypass feature.
