
Older PlayStation Network users can take their breath away, Sony finally allows them to change their nickname from the mid-2000s.
Older PlayStation players will certainly be happy to learn that it is now possible to change their ID on PSN, Sony’s online gaming service.
With the service launched in 2006, older PlayStation Network users have long demanded the ability to change their ID. It is now done, and the nicknames in fashion in the mid-2000s can now disappear for more current aliases.
The first modification offered, the following ones invoiced
Changing the PSN ID can only be done from a PS4 or web browser. Sony says the first ID change is free, but subsequent ones will be charged € 9.99, or € 4.99 for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Users can, for about 30 days, display their old PSN ID next to the new one to ease the transition with their friends.

And, if you ever regret giving up your original username, you will be able to take back one of your previous modified IDs without any restrictions.
Be careful, however, if the most popular games support the change of ID without this causing a problem, this is not the case for the oldest titles. A list of games tested with the ID change feature is also available on the PlayStation site.
Change your PSN ID from the PS4
You can change your PSN ID directly from your PS4 interface.
To do this, go to the Settings menu and enter Account management.

Then access the Account Information menu to enter your Profile details.

Enter online ID to access the page for editing your username.

Two alert windows appear successively and inform you that changing your ID may not be supported by all games and applications. Check that you meet the conditions and click I agree.

In the next window, enter your new PSN ID or select one from the suggested suggestions, then validate your changes by clicking on Confirm.

You can then choose to display or not your new and your old ID, to allow your friends to find you easily, or to display only your new ID.

Finally, confirm your changes by pressing the Confirm button.
Change your PSN ID from a web browser
It is entirely possible to change your PSN ID through a web browser.
Go to the PSN login page to log into your account.

Click on your PSN ID profile picture to expand the menu, then click Account Settings.

In the left column, select your PSN Profile, then in the menu on the right of the screen, in the Online ID row, click Edit.

An alert window displaying information about the risk of changing your ID is displayed. If you want to continue, click I Agree.

Enter the new ID you want to use or choose one from the suggested suggestions and validate all of your changes.
