The importance of using the “Attach a file” button
To fully understand the problem, it is first necessary to understand why the images appear in the body of the message and not as attachments. This difference is due to the means used by your correspondent to insert the files to be sent in the email.
When the sender of the email inserts the images into their message by simply dragging and dropping, the recipient will automatically see these photos appear in the body of the message.
He will officially have no choice but to right click on each of the images and click on Save as image to save the files to his machine. Tedious.
When the sender of the message inserts images using the dedicated function, that is to say by clicking on the “Attach a file” button, the images sent will not be displayed in the body of the message, but will be present in the form of attachments.
To save them, it will then be necessary to open the complete message using a double-click, then to click on the menu Save all attachments.
How to save all images displayed in the body of an email?
In the event that you receive several photos displayed directly in the body of a message, here is the procedure to save them all at once:
1. Save the email
Open the message, click on Outlook’s File menu, and choose Save As.
An exploration window opens. Navigate to the directory where you want to save the images, then in the Type drop-down menu, change the save format, from .msg by default, to HTML, choose a name for your file, and click Save to save the message.
2. Open the backup directory
Now go to the backup directory. In addition to your message in HTML format, you should have a Filename_Name directory.
This folder contains all the elements displayed by the HTML file of your message.
You just need to enter this directory to recover all the saved images.
