Downloading mobile applications over the 4G network is limited to 200MB on iOS. Here’s how to work around this restriction.
Apple has just increased the ceiling for downloading 4G mobile applications from the App Store. Previously limited to 150MB, users can now download apps of up to 200MB to their device without the need for a Wi-Fi connection.
While increasing this limit is welcome, it is still too low and can be a problem, especially if you are far from any wireless connection and absolutely need to download an application.
However, there is a small manipulation, very easy to implement, which allows you to temporarily override this limit to allow you to download applications of more than 200 MB via your mobile network.
1. Start the download
Go to the App Store to start downloading your application. After a few seconds, a pop-up will appear indicating that a Wi-Fi connection is required to download apps over 200MB. Tap Ok and return to the iPhone home page.
The icon of the application to download is displayed in gray on the screen with the mention “Waiting …” and will remain in this state as long as a connection to the Internet via Wi-Fi is not established.

2. Change the date of the device
Open iOS Settings, then in General, enter the Date & Time menu to turn off Auto Adjust. You can now manually change the date and time on your device.

Move your iPhone’s date forward a week or more and return to the device’s home page.
The grayed-out icon should then reactivate and start the download and installation of the application. Do not forget once the manipulation is finished, to reactivate the Automatic date and time setting in the Settings of your iPhone.
