Easily retrieve one or more pages of a document in PDF format by cutting it out without having to install third-party software.
Cutting a PDF file to extract one or more pages does not necessarily require you to install dedicated software. This can be done very easily using software that you probably already have on your computer: your web browser.
In addition to their ability to browse the web, Google Chrome and Firefox including excellent PDF file readers, as long as you want to stick to reading, editing of this type of files remaining reserved for dedicated programs . But both web browsers have a function to print web pages in PDF format.
This function can be diverted to cut your documents in order to extract one or more specific pages.
1. Open the PDF
Launch your web browser, Google Chrome or Firefox, and open your PDF file by dragging and dropping the document into the browser window.
2. Initiate an impression
To extract one page (or more) from your document, we will hijack the virtual printing function which, in principle, allows web pages to be saved in PDF format.
With your PDF file open in the browser, choose to start printing it by using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + P (Cmd + P on macOS), or by going through the File> Print menu.
3. Export the page
On Google Chrome, in the dialog box that appears, in Destination, select Save as PDF.
Expand the options in the Pages menu and select Custom. Then indicate the numbers of the pages to extract by separating them by commas, or groups of pages by indicating the number of the first and the last page of the range, separated by a hyphen.
Validate by clicking on Save and choose your backup directory.
On Firefox, change the default printer by pulling down the Name menu and choosing the Microsoft Print to PDF option.
In Print area, select Pages, and specify the range of pages to keep.
Then click OK, give your file a name, choose a backup directory and click Save.
No changes have been made to the original PDF document. Google Chrome and Firefox automatically generated a new PDF file with only the selected pages.
