Users of Facebook’s mobile app can now customize the shortcut bar and turn off notifications dots.
If you’re one of those fussy users who can’t stand seeing notification dots in their apps, you should be happy with the new feature built into the Facebook app.
The social network is, in fact, in the process of deploying new options allowing users to deactivate the notification dots, red or blue, displayed on the various sections of the social network.
Even better, the shortcut bar displayed at the bottom of the screen on iOS and at the top on Android, can be customized. You will be able to do a little cleaning and remove the shortcuts to access the Marketplace, as well as the Pages and Groups that you follow.
1. Disable notification dots
To remove the notification dots, open the app and pull out the main menu. Then enter Settings and privacy, then the Settings menu.

Scroll down to the Notifications section, and enter the Notification Points menu. Disable shortcuts for which you no longer want to see notification dots.

2. Customize the shortcut bar
The other new feature rolled out by Facebook is the ability to customize the shortcut bar. To do this, open the main menu, deploy the Settings and privacy menu and enter Settings.

Scroll down to the Shortcuts section and enter the Shortcut Bar menu. Disable any shortcuts you want to remove from the bar.

The list of deactivatable options may differ from one device to another. If no official explanation is given, Facebook may be based on what you’re most used to interacting with.
