Reinstalling a clean, up-to-date version of Windows just got easier. Since the May Update 2020 Windows 10 update, Microsoft has offered users the option to perform a full reinstallation of their operating system from the cloud.
The option has been integrated directly into the Windows reset settings. It allows you to restore a computer by directly downloading the last updated OS image which will then be installed automatically on the concerned machine. All with the possibility of keeping all of your files and documents.
However, before carrying out such a manipulation, it is better to ensure your back by making a manual copy, on an external hard drive for example, of all your important files and documents.

1. Open Windows 10 Settings
Click on the start menu and go to Windows 10 Settings by clicking on the cogwheel icon.

2. Access the Recovery menu
Then go to the section on Updates and security. Enter the Recovery menu, and then in the Reset this PC section, click Get started.

3. Start the recovery
Before starting the recovery process, Windows will ask you if you want to keep your files or delete everything.
Regardless of your choice, always make a manual backup of your most important documents before resetting your machine. Click on Keep my files and wait a few moments.

The next window offers two possibilities: Upload to the cloud, and Local reinstallation. Opt for the Cloud Upload option.

Then click on the Next button. Before starting the reinstallation of the OS, the reset wizard displays a summary window of what the reset will cause.


When you are ready, click on the Reset button to start the process.
Windows will then download the latest updated version of Windows 10 before performing a clean install on your computer. During this automatic reset, your PC should restart several times.
