Adobe has just unveiled a free photography app for iOS and Android, capable of applying filters in real time and enhancing your portrait photos.
Taking artistic photos without knowledge of image editing is what Photoshop Camera, the new free photography application from Adobe, promises.
Thanks to artificial intelligence, this camera application, which will complement the native application of your smartphone, promises you to take spectacular shots, without having to go through subsequent manual retouching.
With more than 80 filters, called “Objectives” in the application, the user can transform mundane shots into real masterpieces. The filters offered in Photoshop Camera are inspired for some by filters created and used by influencers and photographers more or less renowned on social networks.
Effects are applied in real time while shooting, while the app automatically corrects image brightness when needed for optimal rendering.
1. Download Photoshop Camera
Photoshop Camera is available for free on iOS and Android. If it is not intended to replace the photography application installed natively on your smartphone, it will complete it by offering you a wide range of effects and filters. If your smartphone is devoid of it, Photoshop Camera will give your device a real mode of portrait photography.

2. Log in to your Adobe account
Like all Adobe applications, Photoshop Camera requires signing in to an Adobe account. Sign in to the app using your Adobe ID credentials and create an account if you don’t already have one.
3. Choose a filter
Choosing a filter in Photoshop Camera is done by selecting the desired lens from the carousel at the bottom of the screen displayed after pressing the three star icon. The effects of each filter are applied in real time to your scene.
You can apply different variations of the same filter by scrolling to the left. Once the filter is selected, start shooting as you normally would.
4. Install other filters
Photoshop Camera natively integrates a number of filters. It is possible to download others, by pressing the Add button located at the end of the carousel, or by directly pressing the icon showing a world map at the top left.
Then just enter the Details of a Goal, then press Add Goal to see it appear in the application’s filter carousel.
5. Change preferences
Tap the three small dots displayed at the top center of the shooting frame. This menu will allow you to choose the ratio of your image (4: 3 or 16: 9), to configure the flash, or to access the advanced parameters of the application.
6. Retouch the images on the camera roll
While Photoshop Camera is able to apply filters in real time to your shots, the app can also automatically correct photos already saved on your device’s camera roll.
To do this, tap the thumbnail displayed next to the shutter button. You can then select an image from Photoshop Camera’s own filmstrip (Studio PsC), or pick an image from your smartphone’s Camera Roll.
Photoshop Camera applies automatic correction to provide the best possible rendering for the image. These corrections can be adjusted by pressing the icon in Settings at the top right.
In addition, the application is able to display a suggestion of Lenses that can be applied to the image, depending on the subject being photographed.
