Lock your computer in one click by creating a dedicated shortcut to put on your desktop or directly in your taskbar.
If you frequently have to get up from your desk and go away from your computer, it is better to remember to lock your machine to avoid jokes from your colleagues or simply to prevent the curious from snooping through your files in your room. absence.
Microsoft has provided a keyboard shortcut, Windows + L, to quickly lock the machine when you move away from it, but not everyone will necessarily remember this combination of keys. Another solution, easy to implement, exists: create a shortcut that will automatically lock the computer when you click on it.
1. Create a shortcut
Start by going to the Windows desktop. You can do this by using the Windows + D key combination to quickly minimize all open windows.
Then right-click on the desktop, then in New, choose Shortcut.

2. Enter the action of the shortcut
In the Create Shortcut window that appears, copy and paste the following command into the Enter item location field:
Rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation
Then click on the Next button.

3. Give the shortcut a name
To finalize your shortcut, give it a name, “Lock PC”, for example. Finally, click on the Finish button to validate the creation of your shortcut.

If everything went correctly, a double click on the shortcut created on your desktop should be enough to lock your machine.

To do this even faster without having to go to the desktop, drag and drop the shortcut to the taskbar to pin it there.

Once this shortcut is accessible from the taskbar, you will only be one click away from being able to lock your computer.
