Audi has sent out a new electric SUV in a test suit on European soil. It concerns the Q5 e-tron, an electric SUV that has nothing to do with the current generation Q5.
Audi’s current range of electric models consists of the Q4 e-tron, the E-tron, its Sportback variants and the E-tron GT related to the Porsche Taycan. Audi has the A6 e-tron and SUV Q6 e-tron in the barrel. These spy photos show a new electric SUV that has nothing to do with those yet-to-be-revealed EVs.
The car on this brand new set of spy photos is the Q5 e-tron, an electric SUV that we have already been able to show you without any form of camouflage, but which Audi has yet to present itself. The Q5 e-tron shares its name with Audi’s BMW X3 and Mercdes-Benz GLC competitor, but has nothing to do with it. The Q5 e-tron is an electric SUV specifically intended for the Chinese market that is on the MEB platform. Just like the Q4s.
In fact, the Q5 e-tron becomes the Q4 e-tron what the Volkswagen ID6 that is not available in Europe is the ID4. So a longer version. It is therefore not surprising that the 4.88 meter long Q5 e-tron shares its 2.97 meter wheelbase with the ID6. The Audi Q5 e-tron is currently only intended for the Chinese market and will soon be available there as 35, 40 and 50.
