Seat says goodbye to the Alhambra

Seat is definitely putting an end to the Alhambra, because the production of the MPV will come to an end at the end of this month. With that, the Spanish brand waves off the model name after 25 years.

Production of Seat’s family car is scheduled to end at the end of this month. Seat has confirmed this to the British coach. We probably don’t need to elaborate too long about the reason for the disappearance of the Alhambra. The high demand for SUVs has caused the extinction of MPVs for years. Brands like Ford and Peugeot have already said goodbye to their MPVs.

At Seat, the seven-seater Tarraco takes over the baton from the Alhambra. The SUV did that in our country early last year, because the Alhambra has not been in our price lists for more than a year. Now for the Spaniard it is therefore over and closing in all other markets. Seat started in 1995 with the Alhambra. As with the generations that followed, the Volkswagen Sharan was the basis. Parent company Volkswagen still holds on to that Sharan, according to Autocar. This would be built until the end of this year – after the corona crisis.

Seat is building more than 500,000 Alhambras in total. More than 14,000 of these copies find a Dutch buyer. This happened most often in 2001: 1,461 times.
