According to a well-known rumor, the Xiaomi will collaborate with camera manufacturer Leica for the Xiaomi top 12 devices. The post was taken offline a few minutes after it was posted. Leica was previously Huawei’s regular partner, but that came to an end this year.
Leica and Xiaomi?
Leica is a German manufacturer best known for its premium cameras. According to Digital Chat Station, Leica is currently collaborating with Xiaomi on the Xiaomi 12 series. That message appeared on Chinese social media, but went offline a few minutes later for unknown reasons. Fortunately, everything sticks to the internet and this Twitter user captured a screenshot of that original post.
Nevertheless, we consider the collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica very plausible, because rumors have already leaked about it coming from another source. Our friends from LetsGoDigital therefore already unpack with concept images of a Xiaomi 12 Ultra with Leica cameras. We see the second on the back, similar to how we could see the year with the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, but slightly larger.

Leica is looking for new collaborations
Leica has worked with Huawei for years on the P and Mate series, the brand’s high-end phones. The German company was mainly responsible for the lens design, Huawei told us in an interview last year. Nevertheless, Leica announced that this exclusive collaboration will come to an end.
At that time, the message leaked that Leica will now work with multiple smartphone brands, and the names Sharp, Honor and Xiaomi have fallen. We now know that Leica has already worked with Sharp on the camera of the Aquos R6. Leica liked that phone too rebrand and release it under its own name as the Leica Phone 1.
