Make a WhatsApp account extra secure and keep unwanted users away with two-step verification.
Two-step verification
WhatsApp users can additionally secure their account with the so-called two-step verification. Enabling this feature will require you to enter a six-digit code each time you attempt to verify the phone number. This is a code of their own making, which the user comes up with when setting up the two-step verification. When setting up the security feature, WhatsApp also asks for an email address. This e-mail address is used if someone has forgotten the access code.
Set up two-step verification (Android)
- Tap the app whatsapp.
- Tap the ‘Menu’ icon
. - Tap on Institutions.
- Tap on Account.
- Tap on Two-step verification.
- Tap on Switch.
- Enter a six-digit passcode.
- Type the code again.
- Enter the email address you want to use if you have forgotten the code.
- Tap on Ger. on the keyboard and then Next one.
- Retype the email address and tap Save.
- Tap on Ready.
The access code is set. Sometimes you have to enter the code during whatsapp.

- Tap the app whatsapp.
- Tap the tab Institutions.
- Tap on Account.
- Tap on Two-step verification.
- Tap on Switch on.
- Enter a six-digit passcode.
- Type the code again.
- Enter the email address you want to use if you have forgotten the code.
- Tap on Next one.
- Type the email address again.
- Tap on Ready.
The access code is set. Sometimes you have to enter the code during WhatsApp.
