Google’s web browser has a hidden reader mode, capable of reformatting the content of a page to display only the main one. Here’s how to activate and use it.
This is probably one of the functions that Google Chrome lacks the most: Reader mode. This option, native to the competition (Safari, Firefox, and even Microsoft Edge), allows you to reformat the content of web pages in a clean layout where text and images are isolated from the rest of the content to provide better reading comfort. . Thus all superfluous blocks are hidden to leave room for the main content.
But while Reader Mode is officially absent in Chrome, it unofficially exists as an experimental feature to be activated manually. Find out how to activate it now on Windows and macOS.
Also to discover in video:
1. Access the experimental functions
Open Google Chrome and go to the chrome: // flags page. This hidden section of the web browser groups together all the experimental features that Google is testing within its browser.

2. Activate Reader mode
In the search box at the top of the window, search for the terms enable reader mode.

Click on the drop-down menu displayed on the right, and change the Default value to Enabled. Then click on the Relaunch button at the bottom right to restart the browser so that the changes made are taken into account.

3. Use Reader mode
After restarting the browser, go to the web page of your choice that contains blocks of text and images. When the site is compatible with the activation of reading mode, an icon representing a book should appear to the right of the address bar. Click on it to activate Reader mode.

All of the content on your web page is now reformatted to a layout that shows only the main content and associated images. All items that may interfere with your reading have been removed.
This layout displaying black text on a white background by default can be customized. To do this, click on the A button displayed at the top right of the page.

A pop-up should then open and display layout options. You can change the background color, select a font type, or increase or decrease the zoom in the page.
To exit Reader mode, click again on the dedicated button displayed in the browser’s address bar.
