What is My OV-Chipkaart?
‘My OV-chipkaart’ is a secure part of www.ov-chipkaart.nl. Holders of an OV chip card (can be requested on the OV website via ‘Buy a personal OV chip card’) can register for this.
With ‘My OV-chipkaart’ you can see at a glance which journeys have been made with the OV-Chipkaart card and how much money has been put on the card and debited again. You can also view and change your own card details, report theft or loss and compile an overview of travel expenses to be declared.
Request public transport travel history
If you want to view the transaction overview via ‘My OV-chipkaart’, you must first activate this service. This is already possible when registering a ‘My OV-chipkaart’ account. You will automatically be asked if you want to request the online transaction overview. You can also do this at a later time via ‘My OV-chipkaart’.
View public transport travel history
Travels and costs incurred (the transactions) are only visible in the overview after the service has been activated. From that moment on, they are shown daily.
You can call up your transaction overview in the following way:
- surf to www.ov-chipkaart.nl
- Click on the top right My OV chip.
- click on login.
- Enter your username and password and click Login.
- click on View travel history.
- Tap your OV chip card under ‘Select card’.
- Scroll down to ‘Transactions’.
Here you can see your transactions from the last two weeks. The train and metro transactions can be viewed within thirty minutes of you travelling. Bus or tram transactions can be seen later and can take up to sixty days.
In the beginning it is difficult to understand the logic of the overview. When traveling by train, 20 euros will always be deducted from the balance at the time of check-in. That’s the entry fee. When traveling by bus, tram or metro, the entry fee is 4 euros. An amount will be added at check-out. That is the amount not traveled. The difference between these two amounts is the fare. This fare is also stated in the overview.
