The Toyota Yaris was crowned Car of the Year 2021 last year and the automotive contenders for the title Car of the Year 2022 have now been announced. Which newcomer do you think should take that title?
Each year, the Car of the Year title is awarded to a model that has been marketed in at least five European countries in the past 12 months. The jury, which includes international motoring journalists, has drawn up a list of 7 finalists from the pre-selection of 39 cars.
The fact that the range of electric cars is increasing is also apparent from the composition of the finalists. Of the seven remaining automotive candidates competing for the title of Car of the Year 2022, only one model is not (yet) available as an EV. That is the new Peugeot 308, although that car will also receive a fully electric equivalent in 2023. The other six finalists are the Cupra Born, the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Kia EV6, the Renault Mégane E-Tech and the Skoda Enyaq iV.
