After a 43-year contract with Toyota and Lexus, 65-year-old Yukihiko Yaguchi retires. Over the years, he became best known as the founder of Lexus’ sporty F-series.
Yukihiko Yaguchi started his career as an engineer at Toyota in 1977 after studying Mechanical Engineering at the Tokyo Metropolitain Institute of Technology. As a first assignment he designed electrical parts for the sixth generation of the Toyota Crown. Then he can put projects like the optimization of the “Noise & Vabration” on the very first Lexus ever on his CV.
As a lover of powerful cars with good road handling, Yaguchi was able to shed his ear in the mid-1990s to boost the performance and quality levels of cars like the Toyota Supra and Lexus SC. In 2001, the Japanese made the definitive switch to Lexus and became responsible for the development of the sporty Lexus IS F. After 43 years, Yaguchi is now enjoying a well-deserved retirement.
