The progress of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas seems in jeopardy. General Motors, among others, has indicated that it will not go, out of concerns about the advancing Omikron variant of the corona virus.
It is still very much the question whether the CES will go ahead, now that several cancellations from large parties are pouring in in a short time. General Motors, among others, has indicated that it will not attend and Waymo, the autonomous driving branch of Google parent company Alphabet, Google itself, Intel and Amazon are also not among them. In the US, the Omikron variant of the coronavirus is spreading quickly and for that reason companies do not seem to find a large exhibition like CES appropriate.
It would be a real shame if it now collapses like a house of cards. At the CES we expect the Chrysler Airflow Concept and the Vietnamese Vinfast, among other things. That wants to unveil three new electric models in Las Vegas. In addition, interesting new technological innovations for the automotive industry are always on display. For the time being, the CES organization has not announced whether the progress of the fair will be reconsidered. CES opens its doors on January 5.
