In particular with graphic processing, such as photo and video, the color reproduction is very important. With ViewSonic’s screens, specific attention is paid to this by providing them with a colorfast screen, which is delivered calibrated.
The ViewSonic VP2768a is available with QHD (2560×1440@60Hz pixels) or 4K resolution (3840×2160@60Hz) and has a matte and hard-coated 27-inch IPS display. IPS already stands for correct color reproduction with a good 178° viewing angle. We test the 4K version and are immediately impressed with the color reproduction after switching it on. It is Pantone validated with 100% sRGB and 100% Rec709 color coverage. The color accuracy is Delta E2. The brightness is 350 cd/m2 and the pixel time is 6 ms. These values are a good fit for the intended use of this screen. The monitor, in conjunction with vDisplay Manager software, has a Mulitask Mask allowing Split Screen and Picture by Picture with the same or multiple input sources with two different color coverages. That software also offers a color blindness mode, where more can be distinguished.
The monitor comes in black, has narrow bezels and a modern sturdy base. All ergonomic settings are present such as swivel, height adjustment, tilt and pivot where the screen can be used vertically. The suspension is VESAcompatible, so that double screen and wall mounting are also possible. Connection to a PC, Mac or laptop is possible via USB-C, 2x HDMI-2 and DisplayPort 1.4. Looping through to multiple screens is an option. There is also a USB-C hub for connection with the following ports: USB-C with 65 Watt supply for simultaneous charging of a laptop with an RJ45 connector for a LAN connection. Furthermore, a USB-3.2 (5Gbps) hub with a USB-b upstream and 2x usb-a downstream and finally a 3.5mm audio out.
The OSD image settings are controlled by about 5 buttons at the back right and this takes quite a bit of getting used to. In addition to the many default settings, there is an option to select a calibration preset, including the default colors sRGB, REC709 and Dicom Sim and multiple locally made calibrations. For your own color settings and display options, there are countless possibilities to adjust these to your own liking.
The Colorbation+ application is available for long-term monitor calibration. The corresponding color sensor can be ordered separately. A list of compatible sensors is in the manual.
The razor-sharp display and sRGB color space of this monitor are fine for standard graphic editing. foor high end/hdr video editing, we would have liked to see the DCI-P3 color space with at least 400 nits brightness. This ViewSonic monitor stands out for its extensive color support and a factory calibrated display. Highly recommended for, in particular, the graphic artist.
