The Silverado EV was Chevy’s biggest hit at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, but the brand has another interesting newcomer. This is in fact the Equinox EV, an all-new compact electric SUV that will hit the US market in 2023.
Chevrolet is already releasing the appearance of an all-new electric SUV that the brand will bring to the American market in 2023. The car you see in these computer drawings is the Equinox EV, most of the name of which may sound familiar to you.
Chevrolet has been selling an SUV called Equinox since 2004. In 2022, the third generation Equinox is in the Chevy showrooms, which you should see as the smaller brother of the Traverse. The current Equinox was introduced in late 2016 and went under the knife in 2020. With the now about five year old SUV, Chevrolet is still doing good business. In 2021, 165,000 units left the showroom in the United States despite the pandemic, significantly more than crossovers and SUVs such as the Trax (43,000), Traverse (116,000), Traillazer (90,000) and Tahoe (106,000). Despite the success of the current Equinox, Chevrolet is eagerly looking forward to the model that will follow it.
The current generation Chevrolet Equinox
The current Equinox is a relatively traditionally designed SUV, but with its electric successor, Chevrolet is taking a completely different path. The Equinox EV not only looks more like a crossover, but also seems to be considerably smaller. Chevrolet describes the Equinox EV as an “affordable EV” with which the company says it demonstrates its promise to make EVs “for everyone”. The car has a Kona-like front with an extremely thin strip of LED lighting and the image at the rear is also determined by flat LED units.
Chevrolet Equinox
Chevrolet does not yet share extensive technical specifications. We do know that the Equinox EV will be on General Motors’ Ultum EV platform, just like the Silverado EV. Chevrolet is taking the opportunity to immediately announce another new electric car. Later in 2023, it will launch the Blazer EV.
