Seat presents the new Leon! In addition to the hatchback, the brand immediately reveals the Sportstourer, both versions coming to the Netherlands halfway this year.

The new Seat Leon builds on the success formula of the outgoing model. Although the design is completely new, you clearly recognize the profile of the Leon. The more upright grille and the slightly more rear-mounted headlights, in the style of the SUV Tarraco, are the most striking innovations. At the back you can recognize the latest edition by the LED lighting that runs the entire width of the tailgate.

Digitization has struck inside. Two large screens pretty much replace all buttons and meters, giving the dashboard a tidy appearance. The screen in the middle is standard 8.25 inch, but Seat also supplies a 10.1 inch copy. The newest functions are available, such as smart smartphone integration, online services and intelligent voice control.

Further developed platform

The new Leon is on a further developed version of the MQB platform, which the current generation already uses. The new model is 8.6 centimeters longer, of which 5 centimeters benefits the wheelbase and therefore the legroom in the rear. The trunk is exactly the same size with 380 liter capacity, the Sportstourer does have more luggage space. The station wagon can take 30 liters more, bringing the total to 617 liters.

Seat can draw on the enormous engine offer from parent company Volkswagen and does so eagerly. The gasoline range includes the 1.0 TSI with 90 and 110 hp and the 1.5 TSI with 130 and 150 hp. Both engines, in combination with a DSG automatic transmission, are available with mild hybrid technology. For the first time, Seat van de Leon also offers a plug-in hybrid, with a 1.4 TSI engine as a basis and a system power of 204 hp. The electric driving range of this version is 60 kilometers.

The prices of the new Leon are announced in the run-up to the market launch.
