If you are one of those who find the new dynamic color theme system in Android 12 limited, then this new rumor may give you new ideas.
Playing with colors in Android 12
Android 12 is all about Material You. It’s a theme system that lets you instantly change the colors of your phone’s interface to match the colors of the wallpaper you’ve set. Unfortunately, this system, which Google called “Monet” in the development phase, is still quite limited. As a result, not everyone is a fan of it, but that may change with the arrival of Android 13.
According to a source of AndroidPolice This Android version gets more color options: “Google has planned four new color combinations for its dynamic theme system, which is currently under active development.” Android 13’s code currently lists four names. We’ll go through them with you below.
- TONAL_SPOT: The current default colors that Monet chooses.
- VIVID: A palette similar to TONAL_SPOT, but with minor differences in additional accents.
- EXPRESSIVE: A wider range of colors, some of which are not seen on the wallpaper, but complement it well.
- SPRITZ: A muted, unsaturated, almost monochromatic theme.
This color palette doesn’t show too many surprises in terms of Android 13 colors. This appears to be the same system we see in Android 12 now, so it would probably act as the default.
The “VIVID” choice is slightly different from the standard. The colors are a bit spicier, but the overall aesthetic is pretty much the same. Hopefully Google will make this option look a little less like ‘TONAL_SPOT’.
This color palette is more interesting. Not all colors of this option in Android 13 are based on the set background. Instead, Android calculates a selection of colors that the system says match your background and add accents. You can see that the different shades of purple can’t be seen in the first two palettes.
This color palette does the exact opposite of ‘EXPRESSIVE’. Instead of coming up with a punchy complementary color, it leans on neutral territory. The color palette is mostly gray, black and white, with some soft colors carried over from the wallpaper. This option could be perfect for the people who have ‘Act normal, then you act crazy enough’ as their motto.
More options please
In addition to these new color palettes, we hope that more manufacturers will implement it in their Android 12 software, because not every manufacturer has done so yet. In addition, there are also manufacturers that give it their own twist, such as Samsung and OPPO. In addition, we hope that Google will also make it possible for developers and Android enthusiasts to create their own Material You themes and put them on the Play Store. That fits nicely with the open character of Android, and gives the user endless possibilities.
