Okay, we have to admit, this Morgan didn’t actually win the famous 24-hour race. In fact, he hasn’t even ridden a meter on the Circuit de la Sarthe. Morgan introduces a limited edition Plus 4, inspired by the 1962 Le Mans-winning example. But precisely because it is a Morgan, it still drives, sounds and feels exactly like the historic Le Mans racer.
In the sixties Morgans Plus 4 often drove on the track with a characteristic red paint. The winner of the 2.0-litre class from 1962, with registration number TOK258, had a unique color green. Both paint colors are now available on the limited Morgan Plus 4 LM62. The white hardtop was also characteristic of that classic racer. Guess which roof color makes its debut in the Morgan price list?
Unique options
It doesn’t stop there with the references to the classic racer. The LM62 also gets white circular decals bearing the number ’29’, silver wire spokes, a Le Mans style fuel cap, a round ‘bulge’ on the rear and many other minor exterior changes. A limited edition is of course not complete without the necessary badges.
No shortage of logos
Also in the interior you are constantly reminded of the fact that you are in a special model. The Le Mans logos are everywhere: on the headrests, the leather door handles, on the dashboard. The interior is completed with special wooden accents on the dashboard and center tunnel, a painted steering wheel and unique floor mats.
Under the skin the same
Like the standard Plus 4, the LM62 is powered by a blown 2.0 four-cylinder BMW, good for 255 hp and 258 Nm of torque. This sprints the 1013 kg Plus 4 in 5.2 seconds to 100 km/h. At 150 mph, the classic-looking Brit stops accelerating.
Be quick
Do you want such a Le Mans Morgan? Then contact the dealer quickly because only 62 copies of the Plus 4 LM62 will be built. It is not yet known what the Dutch dealer is asking for it, but we expect these to be above a hundred thousand. A steal, compared to the amounts that 60s racers sometimes change hands for.
