This is the production version of the Tesla Cybertruck. Or at least, this is a more production-ready version of the Tesla Cybertruck. And immediately the differences with the prototype that was unveiled in 2019. The electric pickup truck now has mirrors, a windshield wiper, a modified front, and more.
“Is it a joke?” we asked ourselves in 2019, when Elon Musk showed the Tesla Cybertruck to the public. But no, apparently the controversially styled pick-up will come on the market in this guise. With a few important differences of course. Observant viewers immediately spot the windscreen wiper on the A-pillar, the two door mirrors and the other alloy wheels (which seem to come from the Tesla Model 3).
Production version Tesla Cybertruck suddenly no longer has door handles
Less striking is that the car in the photos – which leaked through the Cybertruck Owners Club forum – suddenly no longer has door handles. Maybe there’s a button on the b-pillar that we can’t see. Furthermore, the nose of the Cybertruck seems to have changed very subtly. It is straighter and shorter, possibly for pedestrian safety.
Tesla electric pickup finds itself in a tight competitive field
Tesla has already postponed the Cybertruck several times: from 2020 to 2021 to 2022 and recently to 2023. When the electric pickup finally comes on the market, it will land in a tight competitive field. The Ford F-150 Lightning, GMC Hummer and Rivian R1T are already on the market and are selling like hot dogs in the United States.
