Nissan was ahead of the electric troops with the first-generation Leaf. The five-door hatchback – which was completely redesigned five years ago – is successful worldwide, but has now been overtaken left and right by the competition. Since the introduction of the Leaf, electric pioneer Nissan has let its pioneering role slip. Electric Nissan Micra and Renault 5 both built in France

Anyway, now Nissan is really starting an electric model offensive. Over the next five years, the Japanese brand will invest around 23 billion euros in electrification. Nissan is getting help from alliance partner Renault. The electric successor of the Nissan Micra is based on the technology of the upcoming Renault 5. Both cars will be built in France. The design of the new Micra seems to hark back a bit to the third generation from 2002, with its convex, round headlights.
