Mini is working on a completely new generation of its three-door and the Mini Electric will of course also be followed up. It can now prove itself in the freezing cold of the far north of Europe.
Reborn in 2000 as a modern brand, Mini is on the eve of a new chapter. We can count on more electric drive, a slightly different model range and, moreover, there seems to be a real MPV in the pipeline. Earlier we discussed these grand plans in detail. If you’re afraid that Mini will say goodbye to its popular smallest offspring, don’t worry. A new three-door Mini is just coming. We got the first sign of it in November.
Now Mini again sends the Mini Electric out the door and it still shuns snoopers, judging by the large camouflage coat that the little one is wearing. Actually quite redundant, since a completely uncamouflaged copy has already surfaced in China. We could already see that, not surprisingly, the basis of the appearance remains very recognizable. However, some notable changes are on the way. This gives the rear lights a completely different, more triangular shape. The grille also gets a different face, because it now has eight corners.
As can be clearly seen on these new spyshots, the proportions of the Mini also change. Well, at least optically. The headlights seem to be a bit bigger and therefore the rest of the nose looks slightly smaller. The windows towards the back also run a bit more inwards and therefore the Mini gets more ‘hips’ than is the case now.
Although we again see the electrically powered Mini here, we can also count on a version with a fuel engine. Petrol engines are certainly among them, diesels may well pass us by. That is to say: there is a chance that Mini will still supply it, but for other markets. What is less certain is whether the five-door and the Clubman will also be present again. So far there has been no sign of life. Logically, the Cabrio will be back in the long run. We expect the unveiling of the new Mini in the first half of this year at the earliest.
