The Kia EV6 can call itself Electric Car of the Year for a year. The Kia is the winner of the latest edition of this election, organized by the Association of Business Drivers, in collaboration with Eneco eMobility, LeasePlan, AD and AutoWeek. The Fiat 500e and Audi E-tron also won prizes.
This year, 67 models were assessed, a new record. The electric car is no longer an exception, but is increasingly commonplace. This is an important development in the Dutch vehicle fleet. Research by the Association of Business Drivers shows that 22% of business drivers drove a fully electric car in 2021, compared to 14% in 2020. No less than 89% of current electric drivers indicate that the next car will also be an EV. The VZR presents this prize for the fourth time.
The Kia EV6 not only scored the most points in the category called by VZR High Segment, but also scored the most points anyway and is therefore the absolute winner and therefore EV of the year 2022. In its category, the Kia beat the Skoda Enyaq iV and former winner Tesla Model 3. In the ‘middle segment’ – roughly the A and B segment – it was a Stellantis party. The Fiat 500e had the most points, but the Opel Corsa-e and Peugeot e-208 were close behind. In the top segment, the Audi E-tron again extended its title, beating the Porsche Taycan and BMW iX.

Assessment criteria
Range, loading speed, availability, sales numbers, towing weight, price, ease of use, driving characteristics and lease rate are the components that count in this election. The data of the nine criteria were subsequently weighted by the jury. For example, the driving characteristics weigh more heavily in the judgment than the towing weight.
