Nissan is coming with a hybrid version of the Juke. The Nissan Juke Hybrid has a powertrain that is reminiscent of that of the Renault Captur E-Tech Hybrid.
The Nissan Juke is introduced to electric power in the form of the Juke Hybrid. In that new version of the Juke, a 1.6 four-cylinder does its job together with an electric motor. Nissan has not yet given up a system power, but the petrol engine produces 94 hp and 148 Nm, the electric motor is good for 49 hp and 205 Nm. A 15 kW starter generator also participates. The system power is probably 140 hp, as we are also used to the Renault Captur E-Tech Hybrid (and the Clio E-tech Hybrid) where the Nissan Juke Hybrid undoubtedly shares its technology.
As with the Renault Clio E-tech Hybrid, the Juke Hybrid has a 1.2 kWh battery to store the power generated while driving. According to Nissan, up to 80 percent of the time electric driving can be done in urban areas, with a few interruptions during which the battery is recharged. Of course, the electric acclaim also reduces fuel consumption. According to Nissan, the Juke Hybrid consumes up to 40 percent less in the city and on average 20 percent less than the regular Juke with the 1.0 three-cylinder. Of course you do sacrifice some luggage space because of the battery. The Juke Hybrid swallows 354 liters of luggage, 68 less than usual.
In addition to a more favorable consumption, Nissan says it has also aimed to create a special driving experience with the Juke Hybrid. Shifting is done via an automatic transmission with four gears for the fuel engine and two for the electric motor. According to Nissan, a smart algorithm in the transmission ensures that it is possible to switch from electric power to petrol power as seamlessly as possible. The Juke Hybrid always starts in electric mode and you can drive it fully electric up to 55 km/h, if there is enough electricity in the battery. The regenerative braking can be of different strengths, depending on the selected driving mode. It is also possible to drive with the e-Pedal, as we already know from the Leaf. Then you can accelerate and brake with one pedal.
There are also external news. The Juke Hybrid will get, among other things, a more sealed grille for better aerodynamics and the bumpers have also been slightly modified for ‘more efficient airflows’. Finally, there is a slightly modified roof spoiler on the back and new 19-inch wheels will come to the Juke Hybrid that we saw earlier on the fully electric Nissan Ariya.
The Juke Hybrid will be launched this summer. Prices will follow.
