Facelift for Ford Explorer

The now three-year-old Ford Explorer gets a facelift. Ford’s largest SUV after the Expedition gets a revised front and a new buttocks. Whether this renewed Explorer will also come to the Netherlands, is really open to question.

The current generation Ford Explorer is a special one. It was the first generation of the model to be sold with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and that version opened the gates to return to the Dutch market. The Ford Explorer is now about three years old, which means that a facelifted Explorer has long since been devised behind the drawing boards of Ford. We can already show you the renewed Ford Explorer.

The black Explorer in these images has been given a completely redesigned muzzle. Although the SUV can still be recognized as an Explorer from the front, every part has been modified. For example, the SUV has new headlights that match the new grille in a different way. The grille runs almost straight down from the headlight units. The headlights are linked together by an LED strip that runs over the entire width of the front. Lower we find a completely new bumper, a copy that seems to emphasize the height of the SUV.

Ford is also making changes to the rear of the Explorer. The existing light units seem to be more or less preserved, although they are joined by a part that continues in the tailgate of the SUV. In addition, Ford seems to optically split the existing units placed on the corners with a probably silver-colored ornament.

Will the Ford Explorer also come to Europe in this updated form? That’s the question. The footage of the updated Explorer comes from Changan Ford, the partnership that Ford has with Changan in China. Ford applies a different design language in China than in the rest of the world, although the brand seems to be returning to that with the Focus. So just wait a little longer!
