Subsidy pot still half full

With the skyrocketing fuel prices of the moment, you may expect electric cars to become more popular. However, this is not yet noticeable in the number of applications for purchase subsidy for electric cars.
The subsidy pot for the purchase or leasing of a new or used electric car is still well-filled, the RVO implementation service informs on request. NU.nl know. Half of the budget for a used electric car is now used up, and that for a new one for about two-thirds. There is no question of a run on the subsidy now that fuel prices are so high: “If you compare all the weeks since the subsidy was opened, there has not suddenly been an increase in the number of applications since petrol has become more expensive,” said one spokesperson for the RVO.
A total of €71 million is available for new electric cars this year. Of this, almost €46 million has now been requested. For the purchase or lease of used cars, this involves a budget of €20.4 million, of which almost €10 million has now been requested. The subsidy for a second-hand electric car is €2,000, the subsidy for a new one is €3,350. With the subsidy from the government, just over 5,200 used electric cars have switched drivers since the beginning of this year, and more than 13,500 new ones have been bought or leased with a subsidy.
