Ferrari Purosangue is coming

Ferrari’s first ‘SUV’

Ferrari Purosangue is coming

Ferrari is preparing one of its most controversial models ever for its introduction: the Purosangue. The first SUV-like from Ferrari does not seem to be long in coming.

The Ferrari Purosangue has already passed in many guises on AutoWeek.nl. More than a year ago, the latest Ferrari first appeared, then disguised as Maserati. A picture of the real thing followed later, although Ferrari of course still completely covered the car with camouflage material. It did that earlier this month, but actually it’s not really necessary anymore. Recently, photos leaked onto the internet of a car that we already identified as Purosangue. The teaser photo that Ferrari itself shares today confirms the suspicion that we indeed had the Purosangue in front of us then.

We see exactly the same nose on the teaser plate. A strikingly designed front, in which some Roma influences can be seen. Yet Ferrari itself describes the newcomer as ‘a new and very different kind of Ferrari’ than you are used to. The latter, of course, refers to the SUV-like proportions of the Purosangue. A thoroughbred SUV, such as the Lamborghini Urus, for example, does not seem to be quite as far as we can see now. It will be a large and high model for Ferrari standards, but probably a bit of a spiritual successor to the FF and GTC4Lusso in terms of shape. In contrast to those two, the Purosangue will be a five-door, which is of course also new for the Maranello brand.

Apart from the first official teaser image of the Purosangue, Ferrari is not releasing anything concrete yet. The brand is kind enough to report that the car will be unveiled this year, although that is a broad concept with nine months to go. However, it doesn’t seem to last long now that the headline of the teaser campaign is off. Carefully count on plug-in hybrid drive for the Purosangue, as we know it from the SF90 and 296 GTB. What is even more exciting is whether Ferrari will also bring the V12 from the stable for the Purosangue. If there is still something traditional about it…
