Google has finally released the Google Pay app in the Netherlands.
The phenomenon was not completely unknown. It has been possible for some time to pay via Google Pay at certain banks. However, that went through the apps of the relevant banks, now you can use the separate app for this.
After you have downloaded the app, you can link the relevant bank details to Google Pay. In addition to payments, the app also offers other functions. For example, you can leave a large part of the contents of your wallet at home by also managing cards such as bonuses and discount cards via the app. Financial data can be managed via the app, but also via the separate page on pay.google.com.
Through the section Activity in the app you can see which purchases you have made in the past. It is recommended that you check the section Institutions and set the extent to which you want to be approached with commercial messages. Fortunately, you can disable things like “offers and tips” and other advertising notifications. Some notifications are unfortunately enabled by default.
