Now it is not Adidas itself that produces and markets the earphones. The brand name is licensed by Zound Industries, which also markets audio products from brands such as Marshall and Urban Ears. These are again distributed by Hama. Nevertheless, the design of the earphones also fits in well with the range of other sports products from Adidas. In fact, in the Adidas webshop You will find several earphones in different price ranges and shapes.
Even the packaging in which the earphones are shipped are completely in line with Adidas. In the packaging you will find the charging box with the earphones wrapped in a piece of paper. It’s like taking shoes of the same brand out of the shoebox.
Fit
The earbuds are shaped like AirPods, with a stem sticking out of the ear. On that stem you see the three brand stripes of Adidas. The earbuds have interchangeable tips in three different sizes, so you can listen to music (during exercise) without the headset falling out of your ears. Adidas has also not forgotten the water-resistant construction, for both the ears (IPX5) and the box (IPX4). So you can safely exercise in the rain or sweat profusely while listening.
I almost had to screw them into the ear to fit the earbuds properly. It’s more fiddling than other earphones. But once they’re in your ear, they’re bound to be there too. That is a requirement of earphones that you use during exercise. Running, jumping, flying, falling, getting up and going again, I could do all kinds of activities myself with these ears. Without having to clamp with brackets in the ear cup.
No endurance sports
It does mean that there will be some irritation after you wear the earbuds for a while. Wearing it for a very long time, however, is not possible. The playback modes are also nothing to write home about. The noise cancellation makes little difference, which doesn’t matter much because the fit blocks most of the noise. The mode that allows ambient noise to pass through also leaves little impression.
The app fits completely into the Adidas house style and offers almost all the functionality you would expect. Almost. There is no option to connect multiple devices, but that is not a loss with earphones that you mainly use during sports.
A little more annoying is that you can’t set the tap control for music control. There is also an equalizer, update option and eco-charging function (charging up to 80%, which benefits the lifespan).
