Apple announces new Macs that run on an equally new M2 processor. The MacBook Air M2 has been technically improved, where the new MacBook Pro 13-inch only gets the new chip. According to Apple, it is more powerful and advanced than the M1 generation. We list the details.
The new M2 processor makes the MacBook Air M2 twenty percent more powerful than the previous generation MacBook Air, according to Apple. The laptop offers the same battery life as its predecessor. For example, the battery should last eighteen hours when watching videos.
M2 processor makes new MacBook Air faster

MacBook Air Offers Better Webcam
The updated MacBook Air has a 1080p webcam that can FaceTime in HD resolution. The laptop’s speakers and microphones have also been improved and sit between the keyboard and the screen. The laptop has a fingerprint scanner and a 13.6-inch LCD screen with a notch. In that notch you will find the webcam.
The MacBook Air charges via a MagSafe connection, again has no fan and has a Magic Keyboard. Apple provides the laptop with an SSD of up to 2 TB and up to 24 GB unified memory, or memory. The new MacBook Air gets access to the new macOS Ventura.
The laptop still has two Thunderbolt USB-C ports. You can connect earphones or a speaker to the built-in 3.5mm port.
Four colors for the MacBook Air M2
The MacBook Air M2 comes in four colors: black, gold, gray and silver. The included MagSafe cable comes in the same color. Apple is also releasing a new charger with two USB-C ports. The charging adapter supports fast charging and can charge the MacBook Air M2 battery from zero to eighty percent in twenty minutes. Charging via the USB-C ports is also possible, but is less fast. Apple says the 67-watt charger (sold separately) takes the battery from zero to 50 percent in 30 minutes.
The new MacBook Air M2 will soon be for sale in the Netherlands. The previous generation MacBook Air M1 will remain for sale for the time being.
The M2 processor
The M2 processor succeeds the M1, Apple’s first proprietary computer processor since it broke with Intel processors. After the M1 – in the MacBook Air – there also appeared an M1 Pro and M1 Max. Those chips are more powerful and are in MacBook Pros and other premium Mac computers.
Apple is also releasing a redesigned MacBook Pro. It now also runs on the new M2 processor and still has a fan. According to Apple, the MacBook Pro 13-inch M2 is 39 percent faster than the M1 version in terms of image processing performance. In front of gaming performance the same applies, the company said. The new MacBook Pro 13-inch M2 also gets macOS Ventura.
