Now without automatic lever
Honda has released the first images of the ZR-V e:HEV, the hybrid variant of the new SUV that will also be in Dutch showrooms from 2023. However, this is not exactly the car that comes to the Netherlands.
Honda is busy with it. It’s working on a new Accord and about to roll out the all-new Civic. In addition, the brand recently pulled the curtain on the completely new generation CR-V. Because Honda sells its models in many markets and because the wishes are slightly different everywhere, we regularly write about versions of new models that are ahead of the variant intended for Europe. For example, the new CR-V has only been shown in American trim for the time being and we have seen the Honda ZR-V also planned for 2023 in both Chinese and American form (here called HR-V). In its home country of Japan, Honda has now unveiled the ZR-V e:HEV, which offers little news but an interesting interior.
The new ZR-V that Honda as HR-V in the United States on the market, appears there for the time being only with a 2.0 four-cylinder. In Europe, the Honda ZR-V only comes with hybrid powertrains in the showroom. The first interior image of the ‘American ZR-V’ still showed an old-fashioned automatic transmission stick in the center tunnel instead of a set of push buttons to control the transmission, such as the European hybrid Civic e:HEV. Honda has now shown the ZR-V e:HEV in Japan. Indeed, the hybrid variant of the SUV. If you didn’t like the selector lever as you saw it until now, you can breathe a sigh of relief. Just like the Civic, the hybrid ZR-V e:HEV gets push buttons in the center tunnel, as you can see in the images of this Japanese version.
Honda reports in Japan that the ZR-V e:HEV has at least a 2.0 under the hood, although it keeps detailed technical information under the hood. It is quite possible that the hybrid ZR-V will have the same powertrain as the new CR-V. It consists of a 2.0 four-cylinder and two electric motors, just like in the new Civic e:HEV. In the CR-V, that powertrain is more than 200 hp strong, in the European Civic e:HEV the system power is 184 hp.
In short: the European ZR-V e:HEV has still not been presented, although we now know a little better what the situation in the central tunnel will look like.
