From manual gearbox to supercar to fuel cell – nice and varied!

AutoWeek 28 will be in stores from tomorrow or will fall on your doormat this week. What are you reading in our packed magazine this week?
Plugging in, is that outdated again? We asked ourselves this question after a long journey through Germany, during which we set out in a Toyota Mirai with fuel cell, together with a battery-electric Audi Q4 e-tron. Our other double test, between a Volkswagen T-Roc and a Citroën C4, shows that in-between sizes are not average. We also visited the BMW factory of the future in Dingolfing and drove a ‘comfortable’ Lambo!

Double test: Citroën C4 vs Volkswagen T-Roc
When Volkswagen launched the T-Roc in 2017, many people did not know where to place the model. It is now time for a facelift and it is bursting with outright competitors. We now also count the Citroën C4 for this.

First driving test: Toyota Corolla
We in Europe know the Golf, but for the rest of the world the Corolla is the starting point in the compact middle class. The well-known Toyota will receive a small update in 2023. We already drove with that version.

Double test: Audi Q4 E-tron vs Toyota Mirai
The battery-electric car will definitively take over from the combustion engine car. Yet there are still a few manufacturers who also believe in hydrogen. One of them is Toyota, which has a very serious-looking hydrogen model with the Mirai. Is the Japanese also a serious alternative to the electric Audi Q4?

Factory of the future
BMW gave the go-ahead for production of the new 7-series in Dingolfing on 1 July. AutoWeek took a look at the factory where the first generation of the 7 Series rolled off the production line in 1977; BMW’s largest factory is gradually being transformed into the car factory of the future. And that according to BMW’s iFactory concept, where the cars even drive autonomously off the production line for quality control.

Poster Story: Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica
The Huracán Tecnica is Lamborghini’s Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Package. It offers you all the goodness of the extreme Lamborghini STO, but with more comfort and less appearance.

First driving test: Kia Niro PHEV
After the Kia Niro EV and Hybrid, we can go on the road with the PHEV at the first official introduction to the new Niro. Like the sister models, this turns out to be an excellent all-rounder, although it will probably be the least popular of the three in our country.

Clock Round: BMW 320i Touring
A dirty intake, hardening valve covers, an electric water pump that stops working, a timing chain that breaks and oil leakage: judge Joep Schuurman shakes the defects of the direct-injection N43 petrol engine from BMW out of his sleeve. “It’s a miracle that this 320i is still running!”

A Volkswagen Caddy on the dynamometer, we searched for SUVs with an identity crisis, interview with Manfred Gotta and the car life of Tuğrul Çirakoğlu.
