Nice, late copy

The Ford Flex was never delivered in Europe, but many car enthusiasts know it here. No wonder, because it is quite a striking device.
How do you give a huge, seven-seat crossover a unique and even slightly sympathetic look? That is not easy, but Ford made a good attempt in 2008 with the Flex. This car was slightly lower than a real SUV and with its straight lines, vertical butt and tough nose, it looked very different from all other models in this category. The stripes on the side and butt are a reference to the wood-covered ‘woody’ station wagons of yesteryear, and it does indeed remind you something of that. Like so many apparently brilliant cars, the Flex didn’t get eternal life: it went out of production in 2019 and unfortunately didn’t get a successor.
This specific Flex comes from 2014 and is therefore from after the facelift. With its more modern headlights and grille, the car looks a bit more chic than an early Flex, such as the one that passed in this section in 2015. In any case, we seem to be dealing with a nicely decorated version, with a two-tone body and beautiful wheels. Although the model name is smeared on the nose and butt in capital letters, the RDW employee managed to turn it into a ‘Ford Sport Utility’ upon import in 2019. However, we know perfectly well what it is, and so do you (now).
