an extra step

In the development rooms of Porsche, a completely new and all-electric Macan generation is eager to show its face. That is not the only electric SUV from Porsche, the brand is now announcing that it will also come in a higher segment with an electric SUV.
Porsche has a completely new generation Macan in the pipeline for this or next year. That will be an electric SUV that will be placed next to the current Macan generation with combustion engines. That electric Macan will be a brother of the Audi Q6 e-tron and therefore shares its PPE platform with that electric Audi. The Macan ‘EV’ complements Porsche’s electric range, which currently also includes the Taycan and its derivatives. But, it doesn’t stop there either.
“We are coming up with a new luxury electric SUV that we will be producing in Leipzig,” said Oliver Blume, Porsche’s Chairman of the Board of Management. With the model, Porsche focuses on the higher segments where – you guessed it – the profit margins are decent. Automotive News recently noted that the new electric SUV is internally codenamed K1 and will hit the market around 2025.
Porsche has even more EVs in the pipeline. The manufacturer will come up with a successor to the current 718 series around 2025, which will then only be available with an electric powertrain. With the Mission R, Porsche already gave a preview of what you can expect from such a model.
