ANWB: various ‘holiday routes’ very busy this weekend

Anyone traveling abroad to or from a popular holiday destination this weekend may experience significant delays. The ANWB expects holiday traffic jams on various routes in Germany, France and Italy.

According to the ANWB, the traffic on the road abroad will increase in the coming days due to returning tourists. Especially on Saturdays, the union is counting on large crowds on some routes. The second ‘black Saturday’ of this summer.

In France, it is expected to be busy this weekend on the A7 from Lyon south to Orange and on the A10 south between Tours and Bordeaux. French traffic authorities warn motorists that they will be stuck in traffic for hours on the second black Saturday of this season. The ANWB advises travelers to travel south on the A20 via Limoges and Brive.

In Germany, holiday traffic will probably get stuck early on Saturday on the A8 from Munich to Salzburg in Austria. Work on German roads may cause additional delays in the rest of the country. The autobahn will be open again at many points this summer. In Italy traffic jams on one of the popular holiday routes to Lake Garda and Tuscany from the Brenner Pass towards Verona. According to the ANWB, the road will also be busy in Slovenia and Croatia next weekend.

Rest in the Netherlands

While it gets busy abroad, the people who are in the Netherlands and have to go to work can breathe easy. No crowds are expected during the morning and evening rush hours. However, it can flow less at Amsterdam. From July 22 to August 3, the A10-Zuid in the direction of Utrecht will be closed from the Badhoevedorp junction to the RAI.
