Once is not custom, the next Samsung smartphones are unveiled before the hour by the famous “leaker” Evan Blass. We thus discover the official renderings of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4. The opportunity to learn a little more about these folding models.
On these images intended for the press, we discover the front of the two folding phones from Samsung, and their different colors. It is also an opportunity to learn a little more about certain technical specificities of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4.
Few changes for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4?
Looking at these first images, it is tempting to say that the new high-end smartphones from the Korean manufacturer look like two drops of water to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. But let’s not jump to conclusions too quickly and focus us on these images which only reveal the front of the two devices.
The larger of the two, the Z Fold 4, is said to arrive in three colors: black, gold/beige, and grey/blue. On one of the edges of the phone, we can clearly see the power button with the fingerprint reader as well as the volume control buttons located just above. We also see quite clearly on the other edge the hatch that houses the SIM card.
For its part, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 would be available in four colors: gray, purple, gold and sky blue. We guess a similar positioning for the power button and volume control. On the lower edge, there is the USB-C connector, a speaker grille and two microphones.
Technical sheets that remain to be confirmed
Beyond these images, previous rumors have mentioned some of the features of the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It would run Android 12 with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 process, 12 GB of RAM and four variants with different storage capacities: 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB.
The battery capacity and charging speed of the Z Fold 4 would not have changed compared to its predecessor (4400 mAh and 25W). On the other hand, we expect change on the camera side. Indeed, Samsung could switch to a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor for x3 optical zoom.
For the rest, we can expect the two phones to ship connectivity worthy of high-end smartphones of 2022. We are thinking of course 5G, but also Wi-Fi 6E, NFC and a certification of IPX8 sealing. On the software side, they should also take advantage of some features specific to the Korean brand such as Samsung Pay or the very successful Samsung DeX.
