Bentley postpones first EV to 2026

Bentley is reportedly postponing the production start of its first EV until 2026. The arrival of the car was planned earlier in 2025.

The news comes from Automotive News Europe, which previously noted that the ‘sister models’ of this fully electric Bentley are also being delayed. This news is therefore not entirely surprising, although it remains somewhat mysterious. A reason for the delay is not mentioned. Previously, it was software development delays that were cited as the reason, but now Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark has completely abstained from making a statement. Software problems would now explicitly not be the cause of the delay.

According to Hallmark, the delay is at most a few months. This will mean the start of production and therefore the actual market introduction in 2026. The unveiling is still planned for 2025, as indicated earlier.

The first fully electric Bentley is the first in a series of no fewer than five electric models from this brand. This car is part of Project Artemis, the working name for the development of a completely new series of top models. In addition to the Bentley, there will also be an Audi, and perhaps even a Volkswagen. We do not expect a Porsche variant, because that brand left the project at the beginning of this year.
