BMW i4 eDrive35

The electric BMW i4 is currently available with two different powertrains. A third engine version is now added: the eDrive35. The BMW i4 eDrive35 acts as a new entry-level model and thus takes over that role from the i4 eDrive40.

To date, BMW only supplies the electric i4 as an eDrive40 and as an M50. The first has a 340 hp and 430 Nm electric motor on the rear axle and an 80.7 kWh battery that enables a range of up to 590 kilometers. Above this is the four-wheel drive i4 M50 with two together 544 hp and 795 Nm of powerful electric motors. The M50 also has the 80.7 kWh battery, although this M Performance squeezes out with 520 kilometers less driving range than the eDrive40. The BMW i4 now gets a new basic motorization: the eDrive35.

Power and range

The BMW i4 eDrive35 has a 286 hp and 400 Nm strong electric motor on the rear axle and produces 54 hp less than the eDrive40. In any case, the i4 eDrive35 is not slow. It zooms to 100 km/h in exactly 6 seconds (eDrive40: 5.7 seconds).

BMW gives the i4 eDrive35 not only a more modest electric motor than the eDrive40, but also a smaller battery pack. The battery has a net capacity of 66 kWh and is large enough for a range of 490 kilometers. The maximum charging power is also 180 kW below that of the eDrive40 and M50 (205 kW).

BMW i4 eDrive35, Netherlands?

At the time of writing, it is not yet known whether BMW will also bring the i4 eDrive35 to the Netherlands, but we see no reason to assume that this will not happen. We are still awaiting a response from the Dutch importer. We can’t give you a Dutch starting price at the moment, but you can count on it that it will soon be several thousand euros below that of the i4 eDrive40 costing at least €60,640.
