The amending finance bill, currently under debate in the Assembly, should be amended to increase the bonus granted when buying an electric bike.
The government wishes to strengthen its support system for soft mobility. In the midst of the energy price crisis and while the soaring fuel prices continue, the executive intends to encourage the practice of cycling. To help change, nothing better than a financial boost. Aid for the purchase of an electric bike will be significantly increased since its amount will simply double. Currently set at 200 euros, the ecological bonus for the purchase of a VAE (Vélo à Assiststant Electrique) will be increased to 300 euros for all households and up to 400 euros for the most modest households.
In order to encourage users to opt for an electric bicycle, an amendment was passed as part of the amending finance bill for 2022. This modifies not only the amount of the aid, but also its conditions of use. attribution. Indeed, until now, to be able to benefit from the aid, it was also necessary to benefit from similar aid from a local authority. This condition will be lifted. “There are few purchase assistance schemes outside urban areas, whereas cycling can be a useful response in medium-sized towns, rural and peri-urban areas: only 4% of areas with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants offer help with the purchase”, explain the elected officials to justify this adjustment.
Another significant change: for the most modest households, the bonus may also be awarded for the purchase of a classic bicycle. In this case, the amount will be 150 euros per bike.
2,000 euros in aid for the purchase of a cargo bike
This revaluation obviously concerns electric cargo bikes. In their case, the boost becomes more than interesting since it doubles the amount of aid from 1,000 to 2,000 euros (within the limit of 40% of the purchase value). Ditto for folding bikes that integrate the device and which are helped up to 1,000 euros. The amendment also concerns the conversion premium. This was already valid in the case of the scrapping of an old vehicle. Here too, its amount is doubled, going from 1,500 to 3,000 euros. Note also that its allowance has been extended to all members of the household whereas it was previously limited to a single purchase.
The new conditions of the ecological bonus for the electric bike should come into force from August 15th.
