Volkswagen, Porsche and Audi extend warranty to corona

Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche extend the warranty for all cars that would expire this spring. The reason can be guessed: the corona crisis.

At Volkswagen, the measure applies to cars built or delivered in Europe, whose factory warranty expires between March 1, 2020 and May 31, 2020. Owners of these cars receive an additional three months from the date of the original warranty expiration. These cars are currently about two years old, as that is the period that Volkswagen still uses for the standard manufacturer’s warranty.

Something similar applies to Audi and Porsche, although the friendly gesture applies worldwide. The reason is the same in all three cases: cars are now rarely used, while in some areas it is even impossible to visit the dealer for a warranty claim. For these reasons, Aston Martin previously decided on a similar intervention.
