First Geneva Motor Show in Qatar in four years

Major events have been held for months, so car enthusiasts are undoubtedly looking forward to the major car shows again. Yet there is bad news: the Geneva Motor Show will not take place in 2023 either. At least not in Geneva.
In 2020, the organization behind the normally annual Geneva Motor Show was forced to cancel the car party. Of course, this was related to the corona pandemic. The car fair did not take place in 2021 and 2022 either, but in February 2023 the Palexpo exhibition halls would really open their gates again to the car-loving public. Not so.
The organization behind the officially named Geneva International Motor Show has announced that the March 2023 edition will not take place either. In a statement, the organization wrote that “[…] uncertainties related to the economy and international politics” entail too many uncertainties and therefore risks. In addition, the organization says it also takes into account “risks related to the development of the pandemic”. Whether the organization misjudged setting up not one, but two editions of the car show is unknown, but it does not seem impossible.
Initially, not one, but two editions of the Geneva Motor Show would take place in 2023. The first in February in Geneva, the second in November in Qatar. Yes, a Geneva Motor Show in Qatar. In Doha, to be exact. The edition in Qatar will take place in 2023, which means that the first Geneva Motor Show in four years will not take place in Switzerland’s second largest city, but in Qatar. The name of that edition: the Geneva International Motor Show Qatar, or the ‘Geneva Qatar Motor Show’. Get used to it.
