‘Necessary reforms’

Ford is putting a line through no fewer than 3,000 workplaces this week. Automotive News reports this on the basis of a letter sent to employees that it has received. A Ford spokesperson is said to have confirmed the contents of the letter.
It has been rumored for several months that Ford is planning to gradually cut up to 8,000 jobs worldwide. In July, Bloomberg reported that a total of about 8,000 workplaces would be cut, mainly in the United States. A more concrete form of that news is coming out today. Ford would cut 3,000 jobs this week in the United States, Canada and India.
This would involve 2,000 employees who are employed by Ford and 1,000 employees who work at Ford through an external party. The round of layoffs would be related to reforms that Ford says it must implement because, among other things, the industry has changed. The layoffs are mainly at Ford Blue and Model E. Ford Blue develops combustion engines and cars with such powertrains, Model E is the EV division of the brand. In the letter, Ford said it would do its utmost to help the affected employees find new jobs.
