The times when you could buy a great Peugeot 205 for under €1,000 are slowly over. Certainly for a copy with a low mileage and a high enthusiast content, you now have to dig deep into your pockets. In that context, this 1985 205 is actually a bargain.
No, it’s not a GTI, Roland Garros or Rallye, but this 1985 Peugeot 205 is one that will undoubtedly make the heart of many 205 enthusiasts beat faster. That is mainly due to his age. After all, the flush 205s from the first years of construction are quite thin and this is an example that can be brought back to a good original condition with a little bit of love. In the interior, for example, we see the ex-factory radio and the characteristic original hubcaps are still on the car. The 205 also looks nice in its paint and the plastic accents, including the Accent-specific thicker bumpers and the roof spoiler, are still neatly black. To our knowledge, it only originally did not have body color bumper spoilers.
One point of attention is the interior. After all, the seat covers give the impression that worn upholstery is being hidden, although it could of course not be that bad. Perhaps that is why things have remained well protected and tidy and the previous owner simply thought it looked better. In any case, the previous owner was very fond of this 205, because he owned it for no less than 21 years. That inspires confidence! The mileage of only 141,000 km is also striking, especially considering its age. That does not have to be beneficial for the engine, after all, it may have mainly been a lot of short trips, but the 205 has at least had a relatively quiet life. Watch out for hidden rust on such an early 205, they were more sensitive to that in the early years than later. Just in front of the right rear wheel, something seems to have been worked on the carriage.
All in all, this is at least an interesting rough diamond for 205 enthusiasts, especially for the money that is asked for it. €2,000 is the asking price, which is not much in light of current 205 prices and the rarity of such an oldie. So make your move quickly, it probably won’t last very long.
