Early next year, Skoda will market its first EV-developed car, the Enyaq iV. A substantial portion of initial information is now known for that electric Czech who shares his technical MEB base with cars such as the Volkswagen ID.3.
Enyaq iV, to be produced in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic, will be Skoda’s first all-electric car, not based on a model it already sells. The electric SUV is located on the modular MEB platform purely for electric cars, a base that is used by the Volkswagen ID.3, among others. The Enyaq iV measures 4.65 meters in length, is 1.88 meters wide and 1.62 meters high. The SUV is of course a lot longer than the ID.3, which is limited to a length of 4.26 meters. If we put a popular long-legged like the Nissan Qashqai next to the Enyaq iV, it is striking that the electric Czech is no less than 28 centimeters longer. So a hefty EV. The wheelbase, however, is 2.77 meters identical to that of its hatchback brother from Wolfsburg. The luggage space is 585 liters, which is slightly less than that of the Octavia Combi (610 liters).
The Enyaq iV will be available in various flavors, with the basic version simply called Enyaq iV 50. This starter has a lithium-ion battery on board with a net capacity of 52 kWh. This basic variant is powered by one 148 hp electric motor that releases its forces on the rear axle. According to Skoda, the starter is good for a range of 340 WLTP kilometers. A step above that is the Enyaq iV 60. This rear wheel drive has a 58 kWh battery pack in its bottom and has a 179 hp electric motor. Expect a WLTP range of 390 kilometers. Higher up the ladder is the also rear-wheel drive Enyaq iV 80, the version with a 77 kWh battery pack. This 204 hp version should, according to Skoda, be good for a range of 500 kilometers. Then there are two four-wheel drive versions that both have the 77 kWh battery pack: the 80X and the RS. The 80X has a total of 265 hp thanks to two electric motors, while the RS version kicks it up to 306 hp. That RS flavor is able to sprint to a speed of 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds and has a top speed of 180 km / h. Both four-wheel drive versions have a range of 460 kilometers. Skoda promises a maximum towing weight of 1,200 kilos for the RS version.
Not only is there a lot to choose in terms of version, you also have plenty of choice regarding loading options. The Enyaq iV can handle a 2.3 kW charger, but also accepts an 11 kW charger and a 125 kW fast charger.
Skoda will begin production of the Enyaq iV at the end of this year in its main factory in Mladá Boleslav. The car will hit the market early next year. Of course, Skoda has come up with a special introduction version: the Founder’s Edition. Information about this limited edition of 1,895 pieces will follow later.
